Bob’s Your Uncle

Bob Harris is the author of “Prisoner of Trebekistan”, a book with glowing reviews. I don’t mean that the subject of the book is ‘glowing reviews’. I mean that people who read the book and wrote about the experience, said really nice things, which I am told means they acclaimed the book critically – only more acclaiming than criticizing. There, that happened. I haven’t read the book, but based on his other writings, I plan to buy and read it soon – although not necessarily in that order (the bookstore has comfy chairs).

Anyway, Bob Harris has a website that has some of his other excellent work, including a succinct critique (and not the acclaimed way) of the mainstream PR-media. Please take a look at the cartoon, in the bottom of the post on this page. If this isn’t the best cartoon you see today, then please send me the link to the better ones.

Oh the picture at the top of this post has nothing to do with Bob Harris. It is from the movie ‘Idiocracy‘, representing the future McDonald’s style touchpad seen when the main character enters the hospital. Since I am going to the Dr today, I am anticipating he will ask, “whycome you don’t got no tattoo?”

According to my ‘blog stats’, somebody found my website by searching for “women defecating video”. So, of course, I tried to recreate the search (which is why it is in my history, your honor). No luck finding my website this way. Well, not ‘no luck’ at all, because I think I found the new Mrs. SkeptiSys.

Whycome is this?

Holloweenie

This month is October, or ‘Rocktober’ if you still listen to crappy morning radio. Yes, finally Halloween month is here, when all the kooks dress up in costumes for our pleasure. I always loved seeing the creative costumes, like my friend’s as a kid – when he put a coat hanger through his head and went as an aborted fetus. I recommend to all of you ultra-Christians in mid-America, to come down to the Villiage in NYC for the Halloween parade. I guarantee your beliefs will change. To what, I have no idea – but they will change.

Here are some cool costumes:

Starting with Bill Maher’s Steve Irwin costume. Stings, doesn’t it?

This guy gets an A for effort.

Ok, I would wear this one. What does that tell you?

I try not to wear complicated costumes. Won’t you be upside down, if you wear this one?

Look a pumpkin!

The next superhero breakfast cereal will be ‘Super Bloody Tampon Ninja’. Watch out, Frakenberry!

Awww cute. Now I don’t feel so bad for wanting to eat the dog.

South Park did it. Always pass your values to the children.

Ludes and Halloween do not mix well. Do they still have ludes, or am I too old? Ok, Nyquil.

Last one.  Please use this day to share your deepest issues, it will be therapeutic.sheep8ul.jpg

Happy Halloween!

Reagan, that Pinko Liberal

The year is 1948 and Ronald Reagan delivers a speech condemning the exploitation of workers by large corporations. Reagan, of course, spent the end of his life working to assure this exploitation would continue, at all costs. I wish I knew what caused such a dramatic shift, and where to find the cure. In the meantime, it makes for a surreal listening experience.

More Voting Chicanery

Diebold, the company that helped steal the 2004 presidential election, is in the news again. Diebold’s electonic voting machines were used for a 2004 California vote on medical marijuana. The vote results were close enough that the results were challenged. Instead of turning the voting machines over for independent audit, county official sent all the machines back to Diebold. While at Diebold, 96% of the records were mysteriously deleted. Just last week, a judge voided the results and ordered a new vote. The judge also ordered the county officials to reimburse those that filed suit. Thankfully, the legislative branch of government will still occasionally apply the rule of law in a fair manner.

Read about it here.
